"Snax" Benched by G2 Esports

G2 Esports has announced a major shift in its Counter-Strike 2 roster, benching veteran player Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski and transitioning Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač into the in-game leader role. The decision comes after a turbulent stretch for the organization, following a period of declining results and the high-profile departures of Nikola "NiKo" Kovač and Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov to Team Falcons earlier this year.

The Polish legend, Snax, joined G2 Esports in July 2024 and was instrumental in the team’s most successful period in recent memory, helping them secure the BLAST Premier Fall Final and BLAST World Final titles last year. However, G2 has struggled to maintain that level of form in 2025, with no top-five finishes recorded since their brief resurgence at PGL Bucharest.

“We can’t thank Snax enough for his contributions and plays since joining us last year,” G2 said in an official statement. “We wouldn’t have been able to lift the BLAST Fall Final and BLAST World Final without you. With this, Snax has been placed on the bench. We will say goodbye properly when he is no longer on our roster.”

Snax addressed his departure in a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), reflecting on his time with the squad.

“Today I’m benched from G2 Esports. Every line-up felt like my last dance — I always gave it my all. I’m proud knowing I did everything I could as worst IGL,” he wrote.

According to reports from HLTV, Snax is expected to be replaced by Matúš "matys" Šimko, currently with Fnatic. The move aims to inject fresh energy into the squad and stabilize its performance as G2 prepares for IEM Cologne 2025, set to run from July 23 to August 3.

This roster overhaul is just the latest in a string of changes. Earlier this season, G2 welcomed Álvaro "SunPayus" Garcia and new head coach Eetu "sAw" Saha in an attempt to revitalize the team's structure and performance. These changes reflect G2's urgent desire to improve its VRS ranking, which has dropped to its lowest point since January 2024.

As of now, G2’s active CS2 roster is:

Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa
