Call of Duty League Format Changes Announced
Today, Activision Blizzard announced an updated deal for Call of Duty League franchise teams. According to news, the new deal structure aims to prolong the life of the league and sustain the teams.
There are some substantial changes,
Under the revised agreement, teams will now earn more recenue linked to the sales of their in-game merchandise and the Champs bundle.
Furthermore, Activision Blizzard will increase subsidies for teams hosting live in-person events, including majors, opens, and champs.
Moreover, teams will benefit from a two-year minimum revenue guarantee, providing them with greater financial stability to invest in the Call of Duty League. However, maybe the most interesting one will be all outstanding entry fees will be waived, with any previously collected fees returned to the teams.
Through this action, Activision Blizzard will be canceling the franchise entry fees into CDL. The high entrance fees were criticized by many in the past. Naturally following this deal we are expecting also some changes to the Overwatch 2 fee structure. Activision Blizzard was acquired by Microsoft recently and CEO Bobby Kotick left the company shortly after.

Our teams have a huge role in shaping that future and by investing more into them with these changes, we hope to continue propelling the CDL forward."
