ESL FACEIT Group has announced the launch of the ESL Saudi Challenge, a new tournament series exclusively for gamers in Saudi Arabia. The inaugural event will feature Overwatch 2 and is set to run from October 18th to December 7th, culminating in grand finals at the Riyadh gaming venue, VOV Gaming. The tournament boasts a prize pool of $20k.

This marks the first ESL-branded tournament to take place in Saudi Arabia, providing a platform for local talent to showcase their skills to a global audience. With open qualifications and a playoff phase, players across the country will have the chance to compete for the top spot.

The ESL Saudi Challenge comes at a time when Saudi Arabia is rapidly emerging as a hub for esports activity. In August, the Saudi Esports Federation and MOONTON Games signed a memorandum of understanding to further develop the industry in the country. That same month, Korean esports organization Gen.G announced plans to establish a dedicated hub in Riyadh.
