Just a day after its significant legal victory over Apple, Epic Games has announced a new set of features aimed at empowering developers—starting with the introduction of webshops for out-of-app purchases through the Epic Games Store.

In an update posted to its website, Epic detailed the upcoming launch of developer webshops, which will allow game creators to sell in-game items and content directly to users without relying on Apple’s in-app purchase system. These webshops will be hosted via the Epic Games Store and are set to go live in June 2025.

Epic also announced a revised revenue-sharing model. Developers will pay 0% on the first $1 million in annual revenue per app, after which the platform’s standard 12% revenue share will apply. This new structure is designed to make the store more attractive and sustainable for smaller studios and independent developers.

These changes are possible thanks to a court ruling issued by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The court’s injunction prohibits Apple from enforcing its long-standing rule against out-of-app purchases, effectively allowing developers to bypass Apple’s 30% fee. The ruling, which takes effect immediately, also includes a rare and serious allegation: Apple and its vice president of finance, Alex Roman, have been found in criminal contempt for violating prior court orders related to the case.
