Esports Wales has been awarded up to £125k from the Creative Skills Fund. As one of 17 recipients, the governing body for esports in Wales plans to utilize this funding to expand its academy program nationwide, as well as to provide taster sessions, networking opportunities, and career events.
Launched in 2022, the Creative Skills Fund's second round supports various sectors, including video games, film, TV, music, animation, and immersive technology.

"The importance of the creative industries to Wales is clear – it doesn't just create jobs, it is intrinsically linked to our culture, well-being and identity," stated Jack Sargeant, Wales Minister for Creative Industries. "We want a creative sector that reflects and represents its audiences, provides fair and accessible employment opportunities and attracts, develops and retains talent from all backgrounds."
Earlier this year, Esports Wales also secured an investment of up to £50,000 through Media Cymru's Development Fund initiative.
