Team Asobi’s Astro Bot took center stage at The Game Awards 2023, sweeping the night with four major wins, including Game of the Year. The critically acclaimed game also claimed Best Game Direction, Best Family Game, and Best Action/Adventure Game.

Following closely behind were Studio Zero’s Metaphor: ReFantazio and LocalThunk’s Balatro, each winning three awards. Metaphor: ReFantazio earned Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, and Best RPG, while Balatro was recognized with Best Independent Game, Best Debut Indie Game, and Best Mobile Game. At the same time Faker won the best esports athlete award.

The evening also featured exciting new reveals, including a first look at CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 4, Naughty Dog’s new project Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and the announcement of a long-awaited sequel to the 2006 classic Okami.

A new addition to this year’s event was the Game Changers Award, presented to Amir Satvat, Tencent’s business development director. Satvat was honored for his work supporting developers impacted by layoffs and studio closures.
