OverActive Media has announced a strategic sponsorship agreement between its esports club, Movistar KOI, and Ecoembes, a leader in circular economy and packaging recycling. This partnership positions Movistar KOI at the forefront of sustainability in European esports and underscores OverActive Media's commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable growth.
Ecoembes will be Movistar KOI's official sustainability sponsor for 2024 and 2025. As part of the collaboration, Movistar KOI will promote recycling awareness, packaging recovery, and circular economy principles within the esports community. The club is also focused on reducing its carbon footprint in line with global sustainability goals and has joined the United Nations Sports for Climate Action Framework (UNSCAF), supporting the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.
The initiative, titled The Circular Game, will see Ecoembes and Movistar KOI work together on a sustainability plan that educates the esports community on environmental issues. The goal is to reduce the environmental impact of esports and move toward carbon neutrality.
"Bringing circular economy principles to the esports world allows us to connect with a new generation committed to sustainability," said Nieves Rey, Communications and Marketing Director at Ecoembes. "'The Circular Game' exemplifies our mission to make every action contribute to the vital goal of protecting our planet."
