Sony is set to confront a substantial lawsuit amounting to as much as $7.b, as ruled by a London tribunal on Tuesday. The lawsuit alleges that the PlayStation maker exploited its dominant market position, resulting in unjust prices for consumers.

Last year, Sony Interactive Entertainment became the target of the lawsuit on behalf of nearly 9 million individuals in the United Kingdom who had purchased digital games or additional content through Sony's PlayStation Store. Consumer advocate Alex Neill, spearheading the case, values the lawsuit at up to$6.23 billion plus interest. According to Neill's legal team, the cumulative damages for the case were estimated to be up to 6.3 billion pounds in court filings last month. The central claim asserts that Sony abused its dominant market position by mandating the exclusive buying and selling of digital games and add-ons through the PlayStation Store, which imposes a 30% commission on developers and publishers.
