Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has commented on the impact of adding games like Call of Duty to subscription services like Game Pass, noting that such moves will likely drive consumers to subscribe, at least temporarily.
While Take-Two does support subscription services for its older titles, the company remains cautious about including new AAA games in these services upon release. In 2022, Zelnick stated, "That doesn't make any sense to us, because economically speaking, we don't think consumers are prepared to pay for that. And we can't afford to turn our business upside down in a way that doesn't make sense economically."

With Xbox set to include Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 in Game Pass this October, Zelnick was asked if he expects this to alter consumer behavior. He responded, "I think that offering a frontline title with a premium price in a subscription service, day and date, will push consumers to that subscription service for at least a period of time."
Despite this, Zelnick emphasized that Microsoft's approach won't influence Take-Two's strategy. "No, it won't affect our decisions," he said. "Because our decisions are rational."
