UK Green Lights Microsoft Activision Deal

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) in the UK has granted Microsoft the necessary approval to proceed with its acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Earlier this year, the regulator had blocked the $68.7B deal, citing concerns about competition within the cloud gaming industry. In response, Microsoft proposed a modified arrangement in which it would sell the cloud gaming rights for all of Activision Blizzard's titles, including any new releases for the next 15 years, to Ubisoft.

Sarah Cardell, the CMA's chief executive stated "As cloud gaming grows, this intervention will ensure people get more competitive prices, better services and more choice. We are the only competition agency globally to have delivered this outcome. "
