After a series of technical difficulties disrupted the VCT EMEA Stage 1, Riot Games has upgraded its PCs and tournament equipment, allowing the competition to continue. The event will officially resume on Friday, May 2 at 5 PM CEST / 4 PM BST.
The opening match will see Team Liquid and Karmine Corp continue their halted series, with Team Liquid currently leading 1-0. Later in the day, Fnatic will take on Team Heretics in a pivotal match to determine the top seed heading into the playoffs.

Over the past 48 hours, Riot conducted extensive playtesting involving both internal staff and professional players across multiple maps. According to the company, the changes have significantly improved the event’s technical stability.
“During the pro-player playtests, feedback indicated that the new infrastructure has substantially improved performance compared to earlier in Stage 1. However, some sporadic issues were raised during the early rounds of maps, despite the effects being much less than previously reported during the stage,” Riot said in a statement.
Riot added that it will continue monitoring and addressing any remaining technical issues to ensure smooth gameplay going forward.
One additional change before the Team Liquid vs. Karmine Corp match resumes involves the map veto process. Since the map Split was already played, both teams will now reselect the remaining two maps. The decision aims to maintain fairness.
“This ensures no team gains a preparation advantage from previously guaranteed map picks, while maintaining the competitive spirit of the veto process, where a level of uncertainty around map bans and selections is essential for both teams,” Riot explained.
