The acquisition was completed for an undisclosed fee and positions DarkZero’s leadership at the helm of one of the most recognisable brands in esports. As part of the transaction, DarkZero CEO Don Kim will take over as CEO of NRG. NRG Founder Andy Miller will remain involved with the organisation as an advisor, supporting the transition and offering strategic guidance. According to an official release, all existing NRG esports teams will continue to compete under the NRG name, with current rosters remaining intact alongside the majority of staff. Founded in 2015, NRG has established itself as a powerhouse in North American esports. The organisation currently fields teams in titles including VALORANT, League of Legends, Rocket League and Counter-Strike 2. In 2025, NRG achieved notable success by winning the RLCS 2025 World Championship and VALORANT Champions 2025, while also competing at the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025. The acquisition also brings an expansion of NRG’s competitive presence. Speaking to Esports Insider, Kim confirmed that DarkZero’s existing teams will now compete under the NRG banner. This includes DarkZero’s Rainbow Six Siege roster, which has appeared at several major international events this year, such as the Six Invitational 2025, RE:L0;AD 2025 and the Esports World Cup. This move marks NRG’s first entry into the Rainbow Six esports ecosystem. In addition, DarkZero’s North American tier-two League of Legends team will also fall under the NRG brand. The roster currently operates through a collaboration between Maryville University and Dragonsteel, though it remains unclear whether this partnership will continue into 2026. Under the new organisational structure, [[Companies/NRG Esports|NRG Esports]] plans to maintain its current competitive footprint while expanding into additional esports titles and increasing its marketing efforts. Kim emphasised the long-term ambition behind the acquisition, stating: “We believe the NRG brand is phenomenal, and with the additional teams and our plans for expansion, we can grow to be one of the largest esports brands in the world.” Kim also revealed that discussions around the acquisition began after DarkZero published a series of videos in September outlining its desire to expand further within esports. Despite the scale of the deal, financial terms were not disclosed. '''More:'''[[News/NRG Partners with AndaSeat|NRG Partners with AndaSeat]] }}
