Studio lead Nikita Buyanov has hinted at what he’s calling a “hardcore wipe,” sending shockwaves through the game’s community as players prepare for a potentially radical overhaul expected to drop in July.

A New Level of Challenge
While Escape from Tarkov is no stranger to wipes — periodic resets that return player progress to zero — this upcoming wipe promises something different. Buyanov’s recent tease suggests the studio is considering implementing a set of self-imposed, ultra-hardcore rules that were once the domain of player-created challenges.

Traditionally, a “hardcore” Tarkov run involves no Scav raids, no insurance for gear, no access to in-game Traders, and a complete ban on the Flea Market. If these limitations are officially enforced in the upcoming wipe, it would dramatically alter how the game is played.
