|content=he Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) is ramping up its commitment to sim racing esports with the introduction of the Women in Motorsport Esports Cup. This new initiative aims to identify and promote the fastest female drivers in the virtual racing world, opening the competition to aspiring racers globally.

The competition kicks off today, April 24, 2025, on the iRacing platform. Participants will race the FIA F4 car around the Okayama International Circuit in an online time attack event. The 10 highest-performing women will then secure a spot in the in-person final, which will take place during the 2025 FIA General Assemblies and Conference in Macau.

The Women in Motorsport Esports Cup is open to female drivers from all geographic locations, and the FIA is ensuring that anyone—regardless of their motorsport experience—has the opportunity to compete. The competition will select one representative from each of the following six regions: North & Central America, South America, Europe, Middle East & North Africa, Africa, and Asia Pacific. The final four spots in the competition will be awarded to additional top qualifiers, although only one driver per nation will be allowed to advance.

The event is designed to highlight the growing importance of virtual racing as a gateway into the motorsport world. Through this initiative, the FIA hopes to inspire more women to pursue careers in motorsports, providing a platform for those who may have limited access to traditional racing avenues.
