|content=Hidden Variable announced that as of January 21, 2025, it is "no longer involved in the development of Skullgirls Mobile, 2nd Encore" due to a dispute with Autumn Games. The disagreement has led Hidden Variable to file a formal lawsuit with the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Court documents reveal that Hidden Variable is suing Autumn Games for breach of contract, anticipatory breach of contract, breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, and for goods and services rendered. Hidden Variable claims it has met the terms of its contract, but Autumn Games failed to make several payments. These included a $131,500 payment due in November 2024 and several subsequent payments due in December 2024 and January 2025, along with around $15,000 in expenses. Hidden Variable is seeking $1,227,308.98 plus interest.

HVS had given Autumn Games until January 21, 2025, to settle the payments. When the payments were not made, Hidden Variable provided Autumn with the necessary login information to continue community support for the game, “so as not to cause damage to the game.”
