|content=German esports organisation MOUZ has announced that it is leaving the VALORANT competitive scene, ending a four year run in Riot Games’ tactical shooter. The decision was shared through a public statement on the team’s official X account.

According to MOUZ, the current structure of the VALORANT Champions Tour, also known as VCT, does not fit the organisation’s long term goals. The team explained that it does not see a future for itself within the existing VALORANT esports ecosystem.

“We have made the decision to not continue with VALORANT,” the organisation said. “The current VCT format does not align with our ambition as a team, and we do not see a place for us in the current ecosystem.”

MOUZ entered the VALORANT scene in 2022 and mainly competed in the DACH Challengers circuit, which includes teams from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Over the years, the organisation became one of the strongest teams in the region.

One of its biggest achievements came in 2024 when MOUZ won VALORANT Challengers DACH Evolution Split 2. This victory helped the team qualify for VCT Ascension EMEA 2024, the main pathway to reach tier one VALORANT competition.

However, MOUZ was unable to secure promotion. The team finished in fifth to sixth place at Ascension, falling short of earning a spot in the partnered VCT leagues.

MOUZ’s exit highlights ongoing concerns around VALORANT’s tier two system. Teams outside the partnered leagues face short competition seasons, small prize pools, and only one promotion opportunity each year through Ascension.

This structure requires organisations to invest heavily with no guarantee of long term stability or shared revenue. Many teams have questioned whether the system is financially sustainable.

In 2024, the VALORANT Players Association released a report warning that tier two competition was at risk. The report pointed to limited earnings, fewer events, and low financial incentives for teams and players.

Riot Games has acknowledged these concerns and has started to make changes. In June, the publisher announced that betting sponsorships would be allowed in VALORANT and League of Legends esports across North America and EMEA.
