|content=Veteran actor Michael Madsen, known for his gravelly voice and commanding screen presence, has died at the age of 67 following a cardiac arrest, his representative confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

With a career spanning more than four decades and nearly 350 acting credits on IMDb, Madsen made his mark both on screen and in the world of video games. Among his most recognized roles in gaming was his portrayal of Toni Cipriani in Grand Theft Auto III, a performance that helped define Rockstar’s early voice-acted characters.

Madsen’s gaming portfolio extended far beyond Liberty City. He voiced Don Rafferty in True Crime: Streets of LA, John Tanner in Driver 3, and Daud in the critically acclaimed Dishonored series. He also lent his voice to the English dub of Yakuza, where he portrayed the formidable Futoshi Shimano. His final video game role was Travis Baker in Crime Boss: Rockay City, released by 505 Games.

Outside of games, Madsen was a long-time collaborator with director Quentin Tarantino. He delivered iconic performances in Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill: Vol. 1 & 2, The Hateful Eight, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. His broader film career included memorable roles in WarGames, Thelma & Louise, Donnie Brasco, Die Another Day, and Sin City.

The actor’s sister, Virginia Madsen, paid tribute to her brother in an emotional post shared on Facebook.

"He was thunder and velvet," she wrote. "Mischief wrapped in tenderness. A poet disguised as an outlaw. A father, a son, a brother – etched in contradiction, tempered by love that left its mark.

"We're not mourning a public figure. We're not mourning a myth – but flesh and blood and ferocious heart. Who stormed through life loud, brilliant, and half on fire. Who leaves us echoes – gruff, brilliant, unrepeatable – half legend, half lullaby."

Michael Madsen began his acting career in the 1980s and became known for his tough-guy persona, layered with emotional depth.
