{{News |seo_title=PlayVS Partners with Theta Labs |seo_keywords=PlayVS |seo_description=PlayVS & Theta Labs introduce PCL Bot: AI-powered assistant for collegiate esports. Accurate answers on PCL schedules, rules, joining the league & sponsorships for over 10,000 college players. |image=PlayVS1.PNG |tags=PlayVS |date=2026-01-09T10:43:07.000Z |sources={{NewsSource |source=Esports Insider |url=https://esportsinsider.com/2026/01/playvs-theta-labs-partnership |article=News/PlayVS Partners with Theta Labs }} |author=Andura |category=Business |content=PlayVS just announced a new partnership with Theta Labs, the folks behind decentralized cloud tech, to bring an AI helper specifically for the college esports world. They’re calling it the PCL Bot, and it’s built to support the PlayVS College League (better known as the PCL), which is already one of the biggest collegiate esports leagues in North America. [[Companies/PlayVS|PlayVS]] says the PCL Bot will serve more than 10,000 college esports players plus the whole community around them. Players can ask it about match schedules, tournament rules, or pretty much anything league-related and get quick, solid answers. It’ll also help schools figure out how to join the league as members and give brands the rundown on sponsorship opportunities. “Integrating this AI agent into the PlayVS College League represents a major step forward in how we support our players and the broader collegiate esports community,” said Charles O’Donnell, Senior Director of Collegiate Esports at PlayVS. “It will streamline league operations, reduce friction, and create a more consistent competitive experience for every participant in the PCL.” The PCL launched back in 2025 and has grown fast. Right now more than 1,000 campuses across the US are competing in over 17 different games. The league really focuses on keeping things accessible, so there aren’t crazy roster limits or expensive fees. Some of the big titles you’ll see are Counter-Strike 2, League of Legends, and Hearthstone. This Theta Labs deal marks PlayVS’s first new partnership of 2026. They’ve been busy though. Back in September 2025 they teamed up with Tottenham Hotspur to run some esports fan engagement projects. For anyone deep in the college esports scene, whether you’re grinding matches, coaching a team, or a brand looking to get involved, this bot could save a ton of time. No more digging through channels or waiting on slow replies for basic info. '''More:'''[[News/StarCraft Shooter Might be Revealed|StarCraft Shooter Might be Revealed]] }}
