{{News |seo_title=Riot to Sell Hytale IP and Hypixel |seo_keywords=Riot |image=Riot_new1.png |tags=Riot Games |date=2025-11-19T09:27:20.000Z |sources={{NewsSource |source=Games Industry |url=https://www.gamesindustry.biz/riot-sells-hytale-ip-and-hypixel-brand-back-to-original-co-founder |article=News/Riot to Sell Hytale IP and Hypixel }} |author=Andura |category=Mergers and Acquisitions |content=Riot Games has sold the Hytale franchise back to its original co-founder, Simon Collins-Laflamme, only months after confirming it would halt development of the long-delayed project. The company announced in June that Hytale’s development would be winding down. Since then, [[Companies/Riot Games|Riot Games]] says it reviewed several possible paths for the game’s future before ultimately deciding to divest the brand. The sale transfers all Hytale intellectual property and assets, including the Hypixel brand that Riot acquired in 2020. “Over the past several months, we carefully considered a range of options for the future of Hytale. Ultimately, after reviewing multiple offers, we made the decision to sell the IP and game assets back to its original co-founder, Simon Collins-Laflamme,” said Riot CEO Dylan Jadeja. “We believe this path gives players the best chance to one day experience a revised version of the game they’ve been waiting for.” Jadeja added that Riot’s decision reflects its focus on player experience. He noted that the Hytale team produced “a ton of incredible content,” and expressed hope that the community will eventually see the results of that work through this transition. Collins-Laflamme, who co-founded Hypixel with Philippe Touchette in 2018, said the game’s return feels personal. “Hytale has always been deeply personal to me and to our community. I’m grateful to Riot for giving me the opportunity to bring it back home. There’s still a lot of work ahead, but my goal is simple: get the game into players’ hands as soon as possible, and build something special together.” '''More:'''[[News/Take-Two CEO on Current Market|Take-Two CEO on Current Market]] }}
