|content=A U.S. teenager has filed a lawsuit against Roblox and [[Companies/Discord|Discord]], claiming the companies are responsible for facilitating her sexual exploitation through their platforms. The lawsuit, filed on April 21, 2025, accuses both companies of negligence and design failures that allegedly enabled a predator to exploit her when she was just 12 years old.

According to court documents obtained by Polygon, the suit was filed by law firms Anapol Weiss and Girard Sharp on behalf of the now 18-year-old plaintiff, who remains anonymous. The legal action alleges that Roblox and Discord are "accountable for facilitating the sexual exploitation of Plaintiff, who was a minor at the time of the abuse and is now barely an adult."

The girl began using Roblox with her father's consent, but her parents later discovered that she had been targeted by an adult predator. The court filing claims the man used the platforms to "identify, groom, and coerce Plaintiff into sending sexually explicit images and videos of herself."

"The heinous acts against Plaintiff were committed by a dangerous child predator whose actions were possible only because of the egregiously tortious conduct of Defendants," the filing states.

The complaint outlines the emotional and psychological impact of the abuse, asserting that the plaintiff became "severely depressed and introverted" as a result. "She refused to eat in the lunchroom, instead retreating to the quiet, isolated bathroom stalls. Her grades declined significantly, whereas they had previously been stellar. She had great friends and alienated herself from them," the lawyers wrote.

The lawsuit brings several legal claims against Roblox and Discord, including fraudulent concealment and misrepresentation, negligent misrepresentation, general negligence, failure to warn, unreasonable design, negligent undertaking, and strict liability due to design defects.
