|content=The legal battle between Sony and Tencent is intensifying, as Sony has fired back at the Chinese tech giant’s latest legal filing, calling it “nonsense” and doubling down on its accusations of copyright infringement over the upcoming game Light of Motiram.

In newly surfaced court documents, Sony rejected Tencent’s argument that the case is “unripe” due to a reported delay in the game’s release. According to Sony, any postponement does not undo the alleged harm already caused by Light of Motiram’s promotion, which Sony claims closely mirrors its flagship Horizon franchise.

“[[Companies/Tencent|Tencent]] remarkably contends SIE’s claims are unripe because – despite having announced and continuously promoted its game for months – Tencent (purportedly) delayed Light of Motiram’s release until 2027 after SIE sued. This is nonsense. The damage is done – and it continues,” Sony stated.

[[Companies/Sony|Sony]] originally filed the lawsuit in July, demanding a jury trial and claiming that Tencent had lifted key elements from its Horizon series—including the design and symbolism of its protagonist, Aloy. The Japanese gaming giant went further, alleging that Tencent had infringed on not just the character, but what Aloy represents as a symbol of the PlayStation brand.

Sony also took aim at Tencent’s creative decisions, pointing out that the company had hired the composer from Horizon Forbidden West, and accusing it of copying the “look, sound, characters, and narrative” of the Horizon universe.
