|content=Tencent has acquired a minority stake in French game developer Drama Studios, strengthening its presence in the global games market through a new strategic investment. While the financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed, Drama Studios confirmed the funding will be used to expand its team and accelerate development on its upcoming hyper realistic first person shooter, Unrecord.

Drama Studios has already attracted significant attention within the industry. The studio previously secured $2.5m in seed funding from The Games Fund, and its debut title continues to gain traction with players. Unrecord currently sits at number nine on Steam’s wishlist charts, highlighting strong anticipation ahead of its release.

The investment follows widespread interest generated by the game’s early footage, which showcased its distinctive body camera perspective and photorealistic visuals. According to Drama Studios, Tencent’s backing will allow the developer to scale production while maintaining its creative direction.

"Since the surge of attention after our initial trailer, we've worked relentlessly to build a game that meets the expectations of our community," Drama studios CEO and founder Theo Hiribarne said.

The deal comes at a time when Tencent has taken a more measured approach to investments in Western game developers. In recent years, the company has divested from several studios, including Splash Damage and its subsidiary Bulkhead, known for Battalion.
