|content=Sony is stepping into the fighting game peripheral market with its own custom-designed wireless arcade stick, internally dubbed Project Defiant. Officially revealed during the PlayStation State of Play event on June 4, the fight stick is targeting a 2026 release, though pricing details have yet to be announced.

Designed with competitive players in mind, Project Defiant promises "ultra-low latency" wireless performance and a number of premium features. According to Edwin Foo, Vice President of Product Development at Sony Interactive Entertainment, the stick incorporates a “high-quality digital stick that’s custom-designed by Sony Interactive Entertainment.”

The controller supports toolless customization, allowing players to swap out restrictor gates—offering square, circular, and octagonal options—without the need for tools. It also includes mechanical-switch buttons and a touchpad similar to the one on the DualSense controller.

Built with durability and comfort in mind, Project Defiant is designed for long, intense sessions. The device also includes practical additions like a built-in storage compartment for extra restrictor gates and a PS Link USB adapter. Notably, it supports wireless wake functionality for the PS5—users can power on the console by pressing and holding the PS button.
