SkinBid Announces Bankruptcy

Counter-Strike 2 skin marketplace SkinBid has entered bankruptcy, ending four years of operation. The company, was placed under Danish bankruptcy procedures on November 21, 2025. The news was shared publicly on November 27.

Even though the company is shutting down, the platform will stay online for a short time. Users have until December 5 to withdraw their money and in-game items. After that date, any items that remain may be lost.

SkinBid did not explain why it is closing. Still, the move comes after a difficult stretch for the CS2 skin market. One month earlier, Valve added a Trade-up contract that lets players trade five Covert skins for a chance to get a knife or gloves. This major update caused the overall value of the skin economy to drop by about half. The market has slowly started to recover and is now estimated at around 5.4 billion dollars.

Oliver “zipeL” Behrensdorff shared a message after the announcement. “400,000 amazing users, great employees and four years of hard work comes to a close,” he said. “My dream was to run an EU compliant marketplace. I did, but ultimately it did not work out. Sorry to those we disappointed. My focus for now is to assist in shutting down in an orderly fashion.”

During a recent stream, OhnePixel also spoke about the situation. “It’s a lose lose lose for everyone,” he said. “I remember when I announced it, it was a dream come true. I haven’t been a part of it for a year, but if anyone still has skins, withdraw them.”
