Early access shooter Gray Zone Warfare continues to rise in sales. With its distinctive health system and occasional technical glitches, Gray Zone Warfare, an Early Access extraction shooter, has attracted over 400,000 players, solidifying its position as one of Steam's top games. Launched on April 30 through Steam's Early Access program, the game is labeled as an "intense tactical FPS emphasizing realism." Players assume the role of a generic soldier and align with one of three private military companies (PMCs).
Once immersed in the game, players spawn in an open world bustling with fellow players engaged in missions alongside NPC adversaries, all intent on thwarting extraction attempts and seizing loot. The gameplay is in the style of other extraction shooters such as Escape From Tarkov and Call of Duty's DMZ mode, albeit with a heightened emphasis on quests and MMO-inspired elements.
Madfinger Games stated "We're speechless. In just two days of Early Access, we've welcomed 400,000 PMCs to Lamang Island. Your support is beyond incredible. Thank you, everyone. Let's keep pushing forward together, and always remember, every move matters."
Escape From Tarkov enthusiasts voiced their anger with developer Battlestate Games, criticizing the release of a $250 edition featuring exclusive content and perceived pay-to-win elements as "shameless". The CEO of BattleState Games addressed the issues recently.
