Freaks 4U Gaming, a Berlin-based marketing agency founded in 2011, has recently laid off an unspecified number of employees. The announcement was made by the company's CEO, Michael Haenisch, through a LinkedIn post.
Freaks 4U Gaming offers a variety of services to gaming and esports brands globally, including strategic consultancy, event organization, and social media management. The agency has collaborated with notable entities such as VALORANT Game Changers EMEA, esports data analytics provider Shikenso Analytics, and peripheral brand HyperX.
NODWIN Gaming recently has invested €8m in Freaks 4U Gaming GmbH. The conversion of a convertible loan agreement, initiated on December 27, 2023, totaling €3.6m has resulted in NODWIN acquiring additional shares in Freaks 4U Gaming.
Michael Haenisch stated "Last year we already went through layoffs and put people on short-time work, which also has been in effect so far this year due to some expected projects not materializing. After careful consideration, we have unfortunately concluded the necessity of additional reduction in workforce to stabilize our business. This decision has not been made lightly. It is incredibly hard for me, because those affected didn’t do anything wrong, yet they are suffering from the consequences of cancelled projects and a very difficult market; it is also hard for me, having to part ways with people who share the same vision and aspirations, have worked incredibly hard and celebrated achievements alongside me, and have made invaluable contributions to building and shaping Freaks to where we are today. Our people are the essence of Freaks and what we stand for. "
