Valve is reportedly developing a system to ensure that buyers of season passes receive all the content that was promised. Consumers have had to rely on the trustworthiness of publishers and developers, who, as history shows, often prioritize profit.

When developers fail to deliver the promised content from a season pass, refunds are typically issued. For instance, purchasers of the Redfall Bite Back Edition received refunds after Microsoft shut down the studio.

Pavel Djundik stated "Steam is working on a season pass survey for developers, it will be internal to Steam and not shown to customers, which will allow Steam to track commitments of the high level deliverable and their dates to verify that customer received the content promised."
