Riot Games is set to launch a new league for marginalized-genders, following the success of VALORANT’s Game Changers. The tournament is slated for this year and will feature eight teams, with a LAN event reportedly in the works, according to a report by Sheep Esports. Sources say one of the league’s qualifiers will be hosted by SK Gaming, a prominent tier-one organization with a women’s roster that has been competing for four years. However, it’s still unclear whether Riot or a third-party will organize the league.

Several LEC teams are already expressing interest, and some are rumored to have finalized their women’s rosters. Given the success of VALORANT’s league, these teams are positioning themselves for success, with the potential to make an impact not just in regional circuits but as a springboard to the highest levels of competition.

Riot has yet to make an official statement, but sources suggest an official announcement could come in early February.
