Samsung has partnered with game developer MOONTON Games to launch the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Campus Series, a collegiate esports tournament set to take place across Southeast Asia. The competition, which begins in April 2025, will feature student teams from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

According to an official release, the Campus Series aims to serve as a gateway for student gamers aspiring to break into the esports industry. The initiative also seeks to bridge the gap between students and professional esports opportunities.

As part of its support for the tournament, Samsung will provide participants with its latest Galaxy S25 Ultra smartphone, which is equipped with the Vulkan engine to enhance and optimize gaming performance.

“We believe in providing the next generation of gamers with the best technology and opportunities to help reach their full potential,” said Carl Nordenberg, VP, Regional Head of Mobile Experience at Samsung Electronics Southeast Asia and Oceania. “Through Samsung’s Galaxy Gaming Academy Campus Series, we are not only equipping students with mobile devices, but we are also creating a forum for them to develop their skills, gain experience, and expand their community.”

The tournament is open to students aged 18 and over, with qualifiers commencing on April 25th and concluding on May 18th. Country-specific finals will take place throughout May, leading up to the Regional Finals in Indonesia from June 20th to 22nd. The top teams will compete for a share of the $40k prize pool.

Samsung’s involvement in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Campus Series underscores the growing investment of tech companies in the esports sector and highlights the increasing recognition of gaming as a viable career path for students in Southeast Asia.
