Team Spirit emerged victorious at PGL Astana 2025 on Sunday, defeating Astralis in a hard-fought best-of-five grand final to claim the championship title and $200,000 in prize money.
The Russian-based squad came out strong in the grand final held in Kazakhstan, seizing a 2-0 series lead with a dominant 13-5 win on Dust II, followed by a 13-10 victory on Nuke. Astralis responded on Mirage, keeping their title hopes alive with a commanding 13-5 performance to narrow the gap.
However, the deciding map on Train saw the action go into overtime, with Team Spirit eventually securing a 16-13 win to seal the series 3-1 and take home first place in the $625,000 Counter-Strike 2 tournament.
Danil "donk" Kryshkovets of Russia was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after an outstanding individual performance throughout the event.
"WE ARE YOUR PGL ASTANA CHAMPIONS," Team Spirit celebrated in a post on X. "Thank you all for your support."
Earlier in the day, Aurora Gaming claimed third place after edging out FURIA in a best-of-three showdown. FURIA opened with a 13-10 win on Anubis, but Aurora answered back, taking Inferno and Dust II by identical 13-6 scores to complete the reverse sweep and secure $75,000.
The tournament began on May 10 with 16 teams competing in a Swiss system format. The top eight advanced to the playoffs, which culminated in Sunday's best-of-five final.
