Riyadh will host the Kingdom of Gaming conference from December 1 to 3, a major new event aimed at boosting Saudi Arabia’s growing influence in the global games industry. The show is being organised by Tahaluf, a joint venture between GDC organiser Informa and the Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming and Drones. Organisers expect a large turnout, projecting more than 20,000 attendees along with hundreds of exhibitors, sponsors, studios, startups, and investors. They also anticipate that at least 25 investment and publishing deals will be made during the three-day gathering. Tahaluf EVP Annabelle Mander said the event supports the country’s Vision 2030 goals and is designed to help build a stronger creative economy. She explained that Riyadh is moving beyond being a market for games and is now positioning itself as a place where games are developed. By bringing together developers, studios, investors, and platforms, she said the hope is to create an environment where new ideas, talent, and opportunities can grow inside Saudi Arabia and reach a global scale. Saudi Arabia has spent several years trying to become a major force in gaming. Through its Public Investment Fund, the country owns or holds stakes in well-known companies including Take-Two, Nintendo, and Capcom. Its Savvy Games Group investment arm also oversees major assets such as Niantic, ESL FACEIT, and Scopely.
