A new report from Circana has revealed surprising momentum for the NEX Playground Interactive Gaming System during the 2025 holiday season. According to Circana analyst Mat Piscatella, the device outperformed the PlayStation 5 in U.S. hardware sales for the week ending November 22, 2025. The only product ahead of it that week was the Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle, which has become one of the season’s most popular gifts. Piscatella’s post sparked plenty of questions, as many consumers were unfamiliar with the system. Although the NEX Playground first launched in 2023, it is gaining major traction this year. The system is designed for families and younger players, offering interactive games that rely on motion rather than physical controllers. The device functions like past motion gaming add ons such as the Kinect or Eye Toy, but with one major difference. It does not require a separate console. The NEX Playground is the console itself, sitting next to the television and using AI powered technology to track movement. The system supports games such as Fruit Ninja, Bluey Bust a Move, NHL Puck Rush, and Barbie Dance Party. These titles are meant to get players moving and make gaming more active and accessible. Users can also sign up for an optional subscription to unlock more games. With a price of two hundred forty nine dollars, the NEX Playground is far cheaper than the Nintendo Switch 2 at five hundred dollars or the PS5 Slim Digital at four hundred forty nine dollars. That lower cost appears to be helping its rise in holiday sales. '''More:'''[[News/Total War: Medieval 3 Announced|Total War: Medieval 3 Announced]]
