100 Thieves has teamed up with Google Play and Niantic, the creator of Pokémon GO, for collaborations during Pokémon GO Fest 2024.
Google Play will host various activities and experiences at the festival, including exclusive apparel drops and opportunities to meet 100 Thieves streamers. Pokémon GO is a free-to-play game that uses a freemium model with local advertising and in-app purchases for additional items. Initially launching with 150 Pokémon species, the game expanded to approximately 700 by 2021.
While Pokémon GO received mixed reviews upon release—praised for its innovative concept but criticized for technical issues—the annual Pokémon GO Fest is virtual and real-world events across Japan, Spain, and the United States. This year's U.S. event will occur from July 5th to 7th and feature activations by 100 Thieves.
Kelsey Schultz, Director, Head of Sales Operations and Activations at 100 Thieves, stated “Pokémon GO Fest 2024: New York City provides the perfect backdrop for curating an experience for fans that blends gaming and lifestyle transpiring into unforgettable moments. Partnering with Google Play and Niantic, and having our 100 Thieves creators attend, showcases our shared commitment to bringing something special and exclusive to Google Play Points members.”
